Variety Weis prosecuting case against Jacko Adam Sandler (2) Nov 4, 1993 Lauren Weis, head of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Sex Crimes Unit, confirmed Wednesday that she is handling the investigation into allegations that singer Michael Jackson molested a 13-year-old boy. The veteran prosecutor refused to comment specifically on the case -- including published reports that three other teenage boys have claimed to detectives they were sexually abused by the pop star -- but did say the investigation was continuing. LAPD investigators have questioned hundreds of people, sources said, and Weis said the inquiry would probably not be completed until after the first of the year. The news that she was publicly identified as the prosecutor on the case seemed of little interest to Weis, but the confirmation caught some by surprise. "She's usually very tight-lipped about things," said a source close to the investigation. "I'm surprised she'd 'fess up." Representatives for Jackson would not comment on whether the singer will return to the U.S. to attend the funeral of his grandfather, who died Sunday. Services are pending.
