[b]Jackson to record song in Bahrain[/b] By TARIQ KHONJI MANAMA: Pop star Michael Jackson is to record his song to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Bahrain and the US. The project, From the Gulf to the Gulf, is an initiative of 2 Seas Records, a joint venture between Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Jackson's brother Jermaine. More than 20 top artists will take part in the recording of the song, with the working title From the Bottom of My Heart, although names cannot yet be disclosed, according to an official source. Jackson called on the music industry to do its best to bring relief to those suffering from the natural disaster. The song is expected to be released within the coming weeks with major Western artists already being contacted. "We want to establish the record company as one that puts people before profit. It's also a gesture that will come from this part of the world and will help to improve the image of the Gulf," the source said. The effort hopes to rekindle the success of We Are the World, which Jackson co-wrote with Lionel Ritchie and raised millions of dollars for aid to Africa. Jackson came to Bahrain on an extended vacation which began on June 29. He is currently visiting Dubai and is expected to be back in Bahrain shortly, according to the source. Source: Gulf Daily News
