Taraborrelli's "updated" MJ book fails to make impact - MJEOL Bullet #12 Saturday October 18, 2003 J Randy Taraborrelli is no stranger to cashing in on Michael Jackson. This time he may have gone a bit too far. Taraborrelli has updated his book--whose name I won't repeat--with salacious, unproven, unresearch and unfounded rumors about everything from his relationships with Lisa Marie Presley and Debbie Rowe, to his financial status. According to the Guardian Unlimited, the book has "failed to make an impact". Here's an excerpt from the report:
Autumn hypes - an interim report: David Beckham's My Side dominates the charts, as his publisher HarperCollins promised it would...Anthony Bozza's Eminem biography Whatever You Say I Am (Bantam Press) is doing well, but J Randy Taraborrelli's Michael Jackson: The Magic and the Madness (Sidgwick) has failed to make an impact. Cilla Black's What's It All About (Ebury) is sliding, and Jimmy Young's autobiography (Hodder) has dropped out of the charts, as has Madonna's The English Roses (Puffin)...
I guess this time Taraborrelli hasn't been that successful in riding on the coattails of Mr. Jackson's renewed popularity. Or perhaps it is the content which has made people recoil with annoyance after a year that saw the infamous "mockumentary" which illustrated the sleazy tactics of the one-time journalist Martin Bashir. Bashir, as you remember, was outted brilliantly by Jackson's version of a "Caught On Tape" special that aired on the Fox television network. -MJEOL
