[JACKSON] WOWS HIS LONDON FANS BY JANELLE OSWALD Michael Jackson made a colourful return to the stage at the World Music Awards last week With a few thrilling bars of We Are the World, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson (pictured) made a colourful return to the stage at the World Music Awards last week. Contrary to reports elsewhere that he was booed, Jackson was enthusiastically welcomed back by his faithful fans who packed into Earls Court. There was no mistake in the matter – despite the legion of stars on hand, the thousands who turned out were there to see Jackson. Michael Jackson memorabilia decorated the venue throughout the night while hundreds of look-a-likes competed to see who could tug their crotch and moonwalk the best. Ecstatic fans screamed his name from the start of the proceedings until he eventually appeared wearing a sequined black tuxedo. Jackson received a standing ovation after accepting the diamond award, given to artists who have sold more than 100 million albums. There have been so many who have loved me and stood by me throughout my 42 years in the entertainment business I love all of my fans from the bottom of my heart. The disappointment of not hearing him sing was evident on numerous faces. However, many said they knew he was not billed to perform and were content just to see their idol. One fan was over the moon after catching Jacksons jacket which was tossed into the crowd. Published: 23 November 2006 Issue: 1245 Source: http://www.voice-online.co.uk/content.php?show=10338
