Jackson Lawyer Furious over Lies, Tapes, & Media Attention – MJEOL Bullet #30 If the media thought Michael Jackson would play the role of ‘shamed, shrinking violet’ during this time, his attorney Mark Geragos just provided them with a wake-up call. In a news conference today, a furious Geragos came down hard on both the jet company—who may have secretly taped Jackson on the plane ride from Las Vegas to Santa Barabara—as well as the media for treating Jackson like a “piñata”. Geragos was forceful and fumed over the way the media lets any tom-dick-and-harry onto the air to speak about this latest Michael Jackson issue without so much as checking their credentials. People who fit into this category may include former abusive husband to LaToya Jackson, Jack Gordon, Robert Wegner, and various other ex-friends and ex-employees. Geragos vowed to land on anyone “like a ton of bricks” if they continued to besmirch Jackson’s name in public. Garagos says “Michael Jackson is not going to be abused. Michael Jackson is not going to be slammed, is not going to be a piñata for every person who has financial motives” in this media circus. Regarding the specific allegations, he says “If anybody doesn’t think based upon what’s happened so far, that the true motivation of these charges and these allegations is anything but money and the seeking of money,” then they must be “living in their own Neverland.” Geragos left little to the imagination as to if the Jackson camp will fight these, as of yet, un-filed charges in court. MSNBC is reporting that the charges will not be filed until the mid-December. Reporters, correspondents and show hosts alike are openly questioning the reason as to why there is such a delay. Geragos continued to say, very forcefully: “This is not a lottery! This is this man’s life. This is his family’s life. These are scurrilous accusations,” in reference to the many talking-heads who view this situation as a get rich quick opportunity. The egregious actions taken by whoever planted these video cameras in the plane have been scolded by many in the media already. Inside Edition’s Debra Norville says planting video cameras is definitely “crossing the line.” Geragos’s statement comes after a period of information coming out about Jackson’s accuser’s mother, which throws suspicion on her motives. Reportedly, the mother of the accuser may have coached her children to lie in court proceedings before when she was suing the department store chain JC Penny. Sources also revealed that the mother may have been threatening to go to the tabloids and make up stories about Jackson if he didn’t continue to financially support her back in January/February of this year. Fox news reporter Rita Cosby reports actually seeing the family at Neverland looking normal and happy on February 21, 2003. Further, the mother’s own divorce attorney stated that this mother was singing Jackson’s praises as late as April/May of this year (see Mother of Divorce Attorney Backs Jackson’s Story). It has also been reported that the “love letters” the media claimed the DA found in Jackson’s house may have been a complete lie started by a London tabloid. In a previous MJEOL Bullet, I reported that Fox News show ’On the Record' had Kansas District Attorney Nola Foulston saying she spoke with District Attorney Tom Sneddon very recently. Foulston reports that Sneddon is surprised by the media reports and says Sneddon denies any such letters even exist (see Love Letter’s Story a Fake?). :camera Video: Attorney Vows to Defend Jackson -MJEOL
