Jackson Number Ones and Greatest Hits Certifications

Michael Jackson’s albums continue to sell despite no videos, no singles and no promotion. So much for the opinions of critics. Jackson’s Number Ones album, despite all odds, putdowns and forecasts of failure, has been certified platinum in U.S. alone. The information about recent certifications is posted at Billboard.com’s website. Jackson Greatest Hits: History Volume 1 was been certified Gold in U.S. sales also according to the RIAA certifications section at Billboard.com (Source: https://site2.mjeol.com/modules/AMS/submit.php) This is further proof why I don’t believe in Critics…..uh oh! I guess a critic somewhere just died…or at least got fired. Who would have thought I could have woven in a smart-ass Peter Pan reference? But I digress. There is more good news for Jackson according to the “Latest Singles Certification” chart. Thriller, Billie Jean, and Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough have all be certified Gold in U.S. sales alone. According to a notation at Billboard’s website, singles sales activity has greatly diminished across the board, thus a single being certified platinum or gold is a rarity. Number Ones has been certified as multi-platinum in U.S. sales, while his Live in Bucharest concert special has been certified Gold in U.S. sales alone.
