Judge dismisses promoters’ lawsuit against Jackson

mj_002
A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit by a concert promoter against the late Michael Jackson over a failed reunion concert.

U.S. District Judge Harold Baer Jr. granted a motion by lawyers for Jackson’s estate to dismiss the case, citing a lack of evidence that the late King of Pop or his family were under a binding agreement to perform at a reunion concert.

AllGood Entertainment Inc., a company started in Morristown, N.J., sued Jackson for $40 million on June 10, 2009, roughly two weeks before the singer’s death in Los Angeles at age 50. It claimed Jackson and his then-manager broke a contract for a Jackson reunion show.

AllGood later filed a creditor’s claim with Jackson’s estate, claiming the potential value of the lawsuit was at least $300 million.

Baer determined that there was a letter of intent between Jackson’s then-manager, Frank DiLeo, and AllGood, but never an enforceable contract. He noted that neither Jackson nor any other members of the family who were to be involved in the show ever signed a contract.

P Diddy: ‘I should never have let Martin Bashir interview me’

P Diddy: \'I should never have let Martin Bashir interview me\'
RAPPER P.DIDDY has spoken out about his controversial interview with British reporter, Martin Bashir and branded his questions ‘racist’.

The Bad Boy impresario was interviewed by Bashir for ABC News’ Nightline programme and was questioned about gifting his 16-year-old son Justin a $400,000 (259,672.81) Maybach car on his birthday.

The father of six told Vibe magazine that he thought such questioning was racist and that in hindsight ‘I shouldn’t had done the interview.’

He said: “The whole thing about giving a Maybach to my son, that’s really like a racist question. You don’t ask white people what they buy their kids. And they buy ‘em Porsches and convertible Benteys and it ain’t no question.

“It’s really a racist question and put things back in perspective with money and the way people still look at you. And I’m not saying that consciously he’s racist. But he probably don’t even realise that he would not ask Steve Jobs that. He would be like ‘Steve Jobs has that money and that’s the gift his kid is supposed to get.

Chris Brown finally gets his Michael Jackson tribute at BET Awards 2010 | EW.com

ew
As far as I’m concerned, there’s only been one Michael Jackson tribute. Tonight (June 27) Chris Brown finally got his shot at paying homage to his fallen idol, Michael Jackson, at the BET Awards 2010. Jackson’s brother Jermaine introduced Brown, who popped up on stage in a blue shirt, black slacks, white socks, and Jackson’s trademark black loafers. It was a spot-on pull from Jackson’s look at 1988′s Grammy Awards.

Jackson Estate Lawyer To Sue Mann?

A lawyer representing MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate has threatened legal action against KATHERINE JACKSON’s new business partner, alleging he has no right to make money from the late singer’s legacy.

The Jackson matriarch has teamed up with businessman Howard Mann to publish a picture book called Never Can Say Goodbye: The Katherine Jackson Archives.

The book hits stores this week (begs21Jun10) to mark the first anniversary of the superstar’s death, and the pair is said to be negotiating record deals to release 273 unheard Michael Jackson songs.
