Memorabilia Settlement, Bid to Block Auction Dropped

Jackson drops bid to block Vegas auction By KEN RITTER, Associated Press Writer 37 minutes ago LAS VEGAS – Lawyers for Michael Jackson on Friday dropped an effort to block an auction of the pop star’s personal belongings and other Jackson family items, including Jackson’s gold record for his “Thriller” album. Jackson didn’t appear in a Las Vegas court where his lawyer told a judge that a confidential agreement had been reached with representatives of an auctioneer, the current owner of the materials, and a New Jersey man who claimed a warehouse full of Jackson memorabilia after a failed business venture wound up in bankruptcy court. “The matter’s been resolved,” Gregory Cross, a lawyer for Jackson, told Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez.

Asbury man to face pop star in court – APP

Asbury man to face pop star in court Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 05/17/07 BOB CULLINANE STAFF WRITER Asbury Park contractor Henry Vaccaro said he’s ”gonna teach this boy a lesson” when he squares off against pop star Michael Jackson in a Las Vegas courtroom Friday.

MJEOL Note: Some observers who have read the article say it is racist for Vaccaro to use the word “boy” to describe a grown man when not used as a term of endearment. If you remember, Tom Sneddon once referred to Chris Tucker as a “boy” on the stand during Tucker’s testimony. The comment drew public criticism.

Vaccaro is expected to testify about his battle for the ownership — and his subsequent sale — of nearly 2,000 items of Jackson family memorabilia that the “gloved one” claims still belong to him and his siblings.

Auction House Receives Hearing Notice from Jackson Attorneys – MiniB#38

Auction House Receives Hearing Notice from Jackson Attorneys – MiniBullet #38 MAY 11 2007 – The auction house planning to sell Michael Jackson’s memorabilia — allegedly sold illegally by Henry Vaccaro — has received a hearing notice to appear in court early next week. According to a press release from Universal Express, both it and the auction house Guernsey’s have received word that Jackson intends to fight for property belonging to him which was supposed to be excluded from an original court proceeding which caused this mess in the first place. How did this happen? Other members of the Jackson family, excluding Michael and Janet, got involved in a bankruptcy issue years ago with the storage of number of family items and memorabilia at a storage facility. Among those items was property belonging to Michael and Janet Jackson. Vaccaro was “a creditor of one or more members” of the Jackson family “who were previously subject to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceeding”. However, Vaccaro is not and has never been a “creditor” of Michael Jackson’s. Again, Michael and Janet were not part of the bankruptcy proceeding. Did that matter to Vaccaro? Hell no, because he up and sold it all; particularly the items belonging to Michael and Janet probably because those items fetched a higher price. What’s worse is that he reportedly sold it after being ordered by the judge in that proceeding not to sell items belonging to third parties. Woops!

Dimond on Inside Edition Pushing Vapid Jackson Rumors…Again – MiniBullet#37

Dimond on Inside Edition Pushing Vapid Jackson Rumors…Again – MiniBullet#37

MAY 9 2007 – ‘It must be pretty pathetic to be Diane Dimond right now, ‘ I said to myself while watching what some have called a ‘hack’ reporter appear on Inside Edition yesterday (May 8).

The poor thing appeared just in the nick of time to spread rather bland rumors about Jackson’s current life. It seems highly dubious that Dimond would know anything at all about Jackson’s current life, let alone connected enough to know about his personal dealings with people in other countries.

I thought that online guy over at Fox News was the only one delusional enough to think that? Maybe she’s swiping some of his material?

In the aftermath of Jackson’s full acquittal on false charges of child molestation in 2005, Dimond has all but disappeared. I would say she’s been in exile from the airwaves if I were inclined to fits of ridiculous melodramatics like most of the media are when reporting news about Jackson.

Aphrodite Jones writes New Book about Media Bias? – MiniBullet#36

APRIL 30 2007 – Former Michael Jackson hater, Aphrodite Jones, apparently has written a new book. Before you roll your eyes in disgust (as I did when I first heard about it), hold on a minute.

If the write up on Jones’s website for the new book rings true, she may not be as delusional as some of us think she is. This opinion, of course, is based on the pre-release information available so far.

Is Rolling Stone gathering moss? – Chicago Tribune

Is Rolling Stone gathering moss? By Mark Caro Tribune entertainment reporter No Prince, but, hey, they’ve got Stewart Brand! I just picked up the thick, snazzy The Fortieth Anniversary edition of Rolling Stone, a magazine I read religiously when it was closer to its 15th anniversary. To commemorate, the magazine conducted interviews with 20 “artists and leaders who helped shape our time.” And they are Bob Dylan, Jimmy Carter, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Norman Mailer, Tom Wolfe, Bob Weir, Patti Smith, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Jane Fonda, Jack Nicholson, Bill Moyers, George McGovern, Stewart Brand, Michael Moore, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Jackson Browne and Neil Young. I generally try to avoid the politics of representation, but this list makes Rolling Stone’s worldview appear rather, um, monochromatic.
