Jackson accuser’s mom ‘a liar’ – News24
Jackson accuser’s mom ‘a liar’ 02/02/2005 07:34 – (SA) News24.com Los Angeles – Prosecutors want to block lawyers for Michael Jackson from telling the jury at his child molestation trial about prior lawsuits filed by the family of his young accuser, documents showed on Tuesday. Prosecutors asked the California court to bar mention of any prior litigation by the mother of the 13-year-old boy who has accused Jackson of abuse. Jackson’s trial started on Monday with jury selection. Jackson’s team has alleged in pre-trial hearings that the boy’s mother, known in court documents as Jane Doe, is a “liar” and a greedy opportunist who has a history of launching lawsuits aimed at winning financial settlements. Doe obtained a $137 500 settlement from a United States department store which she sued in 2001, claiming security guards had assaulted her and her two sons. Many previous cases And in May, the family sued Los Angeles child welfare officials seeking financial damages over the leak of a confidential memo, which said a departmental investigation had found there was no evidence to suggest Jackson had sexually assaulted the boy.
Could Jackson Prosecution Evidence Be Compromised? – CJ
Could Jackson Prosecution Evidence Be Compromised? February 1, 2005 A “Celebrity Justice” Exclusive. As Michael Jackson and potential jurors in his child molestation case arrived in Santa Maria, Tuesday, “CJ” uncovered details of a bombshell development that could bring into question key evidence against the embattled pop star, because the evidence may have been compromised. When deputies raided Jackson’s Neverland ranch in 2003, we’re told they seized a stash of adult material, including one magazine that reportedly had the fingerprints of both Jackson and his accuser on the same page. Judge Rodney Melville has ruled this evidence is fair game in the trial. But there may be a big problem with the evidence, according to “CJ” Executive Producer and attorney Harvey Levin, who told us the “C” word may now take center stage: “contamination.” “Based on what we’ve seen, this evidence may have been compromised,” Levin observed. “We know when this accuser testified before the grand jury he handled these magazines. At one point, one of the grand jurors asked, ‘Have these magazines been fingerprinted?’ And the sheriff said, ‘No.’ That leaves the door wide open for the defense to argue, ‘How do you know when the boy touched the magazine? At Neverland? Or before the grand jury?'”
